In The Accursed Share,Bataille attempts to develop his theoretical system with the central concept of expenditure/consumption.In his opinion,expenditure is the basic activity and the ultimate destination of human beings,and we should move from the production of property to the expenditure of property.Through the expenditure of property,Bataille attempts to highlight the freedom and intimacy of the individual and to free the individual from the domination of things.However,Bataille fails to see the positive value of the production of property,and since he only looks for the hope of human liberation in the concrete form of expenditure,his solution eventually falls into an awkward situation of poverty of meaning.
