The identification and analysis of traditional Chinese medicine disease name for liver cancer based on ancient textual sources
Objective:To investigate the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)disease names for liver cancer,with the aim of providing a basis and reference for the in-depth utilization of ancient texts and the exchange of clinical experience centered on disease differentiation. Methods:The 5 th edition of the Chinese Medical Canon served as the data source for retrieving TCM disease names such as "Cancer","Tumor","Accumulation","Gynecologic abdominal lumps"and "Liver accumulation"Relevant excerpts from classical texts were extracted,screened,and organized.This study focuses on standardizing the TCM terminology for liver cancer by clarifying the historical evolution of tumor-related disease names.Results:A total of 436 entries from 153 ancient texts were included.Conclusion:The diseases "liver accumulation"and "Gynecologic abdominal lumps"within the category of accumulation disorders closely align with the characteristics of modern liver cancer,including symptoms,disease progression,and prognosis.These terms also reflect the pathogenesis of qi stagnation and internal blood stasis,effectively unifying the scientific,accurate,and comprehensive nature of TCM disease nomenclature for liver cancer.
