Correlation between Traditional Chinese Medicine Constitution and Pulse Condition in Patients with Coronary Heart Disease
Objective:To explore the distribution of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)constitution in patients with coronary heart disease(CHD)based on the theory of"constitution-disease relation",and to analyze the correlation between constitution and pulse condition. Methods:The subject population consisted of CHD patients confirmed by coronary angiography at Dongfang Hospital Affiliated to Beijing University of Chinese Medicine from May 31,2021 to November 30,2021.The characteristics of constitution and pulse condition were determined by palpating the pulse condition and combining it with the scale to identify TCM constitution. Results:A total of 271 patients with CHD were included. The distribution of their constitutions was mainly as follows:phlegm-dampness constitution(67,24.7%),blood-stasis constitution(52,19.2%),yin-deficiency constitution(45,16.6%),Qi-deficiency constitution(30,11.1%),damp-heat constitution(30,11.1%).In pulse condition, chord pulse(143,52.8%),sink pulse(74,27.3%),and smooth pulse(31,11.4%)with frequency>10%.Spearman correlation analysis showed that chord pulse was significantly negatively correlated with Qi-deficiency constitution(r=-0.137,P<0.05),sink pulse was significantly positively correlated with qi-deficiency constitution(r=0.153,P<0.05),sink pulse was significantly negatively correlated with damp-heat constitution(r=-0.137,P<0.05),and smooth pulse was significantly positively correlated with damp-heat constitution(r=0.206,P<0.01).Conclusion:Pulse condition can reflect constitution tendency.Sinking pulse is positively related to Qi-deficiency constitution, and slippery pulse is positively related to damp-heat constitution in CHD patients, this study confirm that constitution is related to pulse condition.
