Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of Gegen Shixie Decoction for the treatment of persistent postural-perceptual dizziness(PPPD)based on the pathogenesis of phlegm-depression.Methods:Sixty patients with PPPD(blocked phlegm with stagnation of liver qi)were selected and randomly divided into treatment group and control group,with 30 cases in each group.The patients in treatment group were given Gegen Shixie Decoction for 4 weeks,and the patients in control group were given paroxetine hydrochloride for 4 weeks.The clinical efficacy and adverse reactions of the two groups were observed,and the relevant observation indexes before and after treatment were compared.Results:Before treatment,there were no significant differences in the scores of Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD),Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS),and Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment,the scores of HAMD,SDS,and SAS in the two groups decreased(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).Before treatment,there were no statistically significant differences in the scores of Vertigo Disability Scale(DHI),Visual Analogue Scale(VAS),and Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinical Syndrome Evaluation Scale between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment,the scores of DHI,VAS and Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinical Syndrome Evaluation Scale decreased(P<0.05),and there were significant differences between the two groups(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the scores of each item of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Scale between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).The scores of each item after treatment were lower than those before treatment(P<0.05).The total effective rate of the treatment group was 79.31%,and the total effective rate of the control group was 75.00%,the difference was significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:Gegen Shixie Decoction is equivalent to paroxetine hydrochloride in improving emotions such as upset,anxiety,and depression,and it is better than paroxetine hydrochloride in improving symptoms such as vertigo,dizziness,loss of appetite,with less side effects and better safety.
