Study on the Chemical Constituents and Antitumor Activity of Maytenus confertiflora
Objective:To study the chemical constituents from the stems and leaves of Maytenus confertiflora and its anti-tumor ac-tivities in vitro. Methods:The ethanol extract of Maytenus confertiflora was isolated and purified by using normal phase silica gel,Sepha-dex LH-20,MCI and semi-preparative HPLC,and the in vitro antitumor activity of the triterpenoids was evaluated by the MTT method. Results:Seventeen compounds were isolated from Maytenus confertiflora and identified as tridec-l-ene(1),bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate(2),pentacosane(3),β-amyrenone(4),3-hydroxyfriedel-3-en-2-one(5),β-sitosterol(6),28,29-dihydroxyfriedelan-3-one(7),friede-lin(8),3α-hydroxyfriedel-2-one(9),3-oxofriedelan-28-oic acid(10),canophyllol(11),3-oxo-29-hydroxyfiedelane(12),pentadecanoic acid(13),icariol A2(14),lingueresinol(15),toddalolactone(16),aurantiamide acetate(17),respectively.Conclusion:All compounds are isolated from Maytenus confertiflora for the first time.Compound 7 has a strong inhibitory effect on Eca-109 and EJ cells with IC50 of 27.67 and 30.09 μmol/L,respectively.Compound 12 has a good inhibitory effect on HepG2 and PANC-1 cells, with IC50 of 49.42 and 51.87 μmol/L,respectively.
