Effect of the Host Plant Salvia miltiorrhiza on the Growth of Santalum album Seedlings
Objective:To study the effect of Salvia miltiorrhiza as host plant on the growth of Santalum album seedlings. Methods:Three different treatment groups were set, including Santalum album control group(TXCK),Santalum album with Kuhnia rosmarnifolia parasitic group(TXJH),Santalum album with Salvia miltiorrhiza parasitic group(TXDS).The biomass, chlorophyll content, biochemical components and soil nutrients of Santalum album seedlings were determined. Results:The plant height, root length, haustorium diameter of TXDS group were significantly higher than those of TXJH group(P<0.05),which were 1.32 to 1.83 times than TXJH group. The chlorophyll a,chlorophyll b and total chlorophyll contents in TXDS group were significantly higher than TXJH group(P<0.05),which were 1.41 to 1.49 times than TXJH group. The contents of SOD and soluble sugar in the aboveground part of TXDS group were signifi-cantly the highest(P<0.05),but there was no significant differences with TXJH group. The contents of SOD and soluble sugar in the underground part of TXDS group were significantly higher than those of TXCK and TXJH groups(P<0.05).The protein content of the underground part in TXCK group was significantly higher than that in TXDS group(P<0.05).The contents of total nitrogen, total phos-phorus,available nitrogen, available phosphorus and available potassium in TXCK group were significantly higher than those in TXDS group(P<0.05),which were 1.44 to 1.73 times than TXDS group, but there was no significant differences with TXJH group. The con-tent of total potassium in TXCK group was 1.94%and significantly higher than that in TXJH group(P<0.05),which was 1.60 times than TXJH group, but there was no significant difference with TXDS group. Conclusion:The host plant Salvia miltiorrhiza can better pro-mote the growth of Santalum album by improving its photosynthesis, increasing the content of nutrients and promoting the absorption of soil nutrients. It is an excellent host plant of Santalum album at seedling stage. This research provides reference for the selection of host plants and methods of cultivated Santalum album.
