Clinical observation on 30 cases of childhood masturbation in girls with exuberant fire of heart and liver syndrome treated with Chinese medicine sitz bath combined with psycho-behavioural intervention
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)sitz bath com-bined with psychological and behavioural interventions in the treatment of childhood masturbation(CM)in girls with exuberant fire of heart and liver syndrome.Methods Sixty cases of CM in girls with exuberant fire of heart and liv-er syndrome who attended the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University from November 2021 to October 2022 were selected and divided into the control group and the treatment group,each with 30 cases,using the random number table method.The control group was treated with psycho-behavioural interventions,and the treatment group was treated with TCM sitz baths on the basis of the treatment methods of the control group.14 days of continuous treatment was given to both groups,and the clinical ef-ficacy and frequency of weekly episodes as well as the TCM scores were compared before and after the treatment.Results The total effective rate and cure rate of the treatment group were 96.67％(29/30)and 56.67％(17/30),respectively,which were significantly higher than those of the control group,which were 73.33％(22/30)and 30.00％(9/30),and the difference between the 2 groups was statistically significant(P＜0.05).Comparison of seizure frequency between the 2 groups before treatment,the difference was not statistically significant(P＞0.05),and was comparable.After treatment,the seizure frequency of both groups decreased significantly,and the difference was statistically significant when compared with the same group before treatment(P＜0.05),and the decrease was more significant in the treatment group(P＜0.05).The difference in seizure frequency in the treatment group was greater than that in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.01).Comparison of vulvar condition,nocturnal sleeplessness,impatience and total scores between the 2 groups before treatment,the difference was not statistically significant(P＞0.05)and was comparable.The above scores of the 2 groups decreased signifi-cantly after treatment,and the difference was statistically significant when compared with the same group before treatment(P＜0.05),and the decrease was more significant in the treatment group(P＜0.05 or P＜0.01).The differ-ence in scores of the treatment group was greater than that of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.01).Conclusion The combined treatment of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)sitz bath and psychological and behavioural interventions in the treatment of CM in girls with exuberant fire of heart and liver syn-drome has proven effective,significantly reducing the TCM syndrome score,with high safety,making it worthy of clinical promotion and application.
