Clinical observation on the treatment of 32 cases of childhood intellectual disability with deficiency of liver and kidney using Jin's three needles combined with Yizhi Tiansui tuina therapy
Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Jin's three needles combined with Yizhi Tiansui tuina therapy in the treatment of childhood intellectual disability(ID)with deficiency of liver and kidney.Methods A total of 64 children ID with deficiency of liver and kidney admitted to the Department of Internal Medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pediatrics of Changge Second People's Hospital from May 2019 to May 2021 were selected and divided into a treatment group and a control group with 32 cases in each group according to the random number table method.The control group received comprehensive neural rehabilitation therapy,while the treatment group received Jin's three needles combined with Yizhi Tiansui tuina therapy.Both groups were treated for 1 month as a course of treatment,and after 3 courses of treatment,the clinical efficacy,intellectual level,motor abil-ity,daily living ability,as well as serum levels of neuron-specific enolase(NSE),5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT),do-pamine(DA),and norepinephrine(NE)were evaluated in both groups.Results The total clinical effective rate was 93.75％(30/32)in the treatment group and 75.00％(27/32)in the control group,with a statistically signifi-cant difference between the two groups(P＜0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the level of in-tellectual development between the two groups before treatment(P＞0.05),indicating comparability.After treat-ment,the level of intellectual development increased significantly in both groups,with statistically significant differ-ences compared with the pre-treatment levels within the same group(P＜0.05),and the improvement was more sig-nificant in the treatment group(P＜0.05).There were no statistically significant differences in the scores of the Gross Motor Function Measure(GMFM)and the Activity of Daily Living(ADL)scale between the two groups be-fore treatment(P＞0.05),indicating comparability.After treatment,the scores of GMFM and ADL increased signifi-cantly in both groups,with statistically significant differences compared with the pre-treatment levels within the same group(P＜0.05),and the increase was more significant in the treatment group(P＜0.05).There were no statistically significant differences in serum levels of NSE,5-HT,DA,and NE between the two groups before treatment(P＞0.05),indicating comparability.After treatment,the serum level of NSE decreased significantly,while the levels of 5-HT,DA,and NE increased significantly in both groups,with statistically significant differences compared with the pre-treatment levels within the same group(P＜0.05),and the decrease or increase was more significant in the treatment group(P＜0.05).Conclusion Jin's three needles combined with Yizhi Tiansui tuina therapy is effective in the treatment of childhood ID with deficiency of liver and kidney.It can not only significantly improve the intellec-tual level,motor ability,and daily living ability of children with ID,but also regulate the levels of serum NSE and monoamine neurotransmitters,making it worthy of clinical application and promotion.
