Professor FAN Binghua's treatment of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis based on imbalance of tendons and bones
Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis(AIS)is a common and difficult-to-treat spinal deformity that poses a threat to the spinal health of adolescents.Based on 50 years of clinical practice in treating AIS,professor FAN Bing-hua has integrated traditional Chinese medical theories of tendons and bones with modem biomechanics principles, proposing that imbalance of tendons and instability of bones are the key pathogenesis of AIS.He summarizes a treat-ment principle guided by the theory of tendons and bones, emphasizing the equal importance of tendons and bones but giving priority to the treatment of tendons.By combining various therapies such as tuina bone-setting and exer-cise,he has achieved remarkable therapeutic effects in treating AIS.A case study is presented for verification.
