Professor SHI Zhenggang's experience in treating pediatric tic disorders with modified Changpu Yujin Tang(菖蒲郁金汤)
Professor SHI Zhenggang believes that pediatric tic disorders primarily affect the heart and liver, with pathological factors including phlegm, fire, and wind. The basic pathogenesis involves phlegm-fire stirring up liver wind, which disturbs the mind.Among these,phlegm-fire is the macro factor, and wind movement is the micro factor. The treatment focuses on clearing heat, resolving phlegm, calming the liver and stopping wind, soothing convulsions, and calming the nerves, using a modified Changpu Yujin Tang(菖蒲郁金汤),which has achieved satisfactory clin-ical efficacy.Professor SHI integrates the"macro-dialectical"thinking of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)with the"micro-targeting"treatment of Western medicine, emphasizing the regulation of the body's state from a macro perspective, where the external environment is equivalent to constitution, allowing the body to"resolve phlegm and extinguish fire"to achieve the purpose of calming liver wind.Furthermore,he targets a series of wind-related symp-toms,which involves a more precise approach to changes in disease symptoms and physicochemical indicators, for targeted treatment to drive out external wind and calm internal wind.A clinical case is attached for verification.
