Treating pediatric adenoidal hypertrophy from the perspective of"yangming and jueyin meridians"
The location of pediatric adenoidal hypertrophy mainly involves the qi of yangming meridian, the blood of jueyin meridian, throat, nose, and mouth. The etiology and pathogenesis are attributed to insufficient vital qi,recurrent external infections,or dietary stagnation, leading to dysfunction of the lungs and spleen, liver qi stagna-tion,qi stagnation transforming into fire, and the qi and fire of the stomach, intestines, liver, and gallbladder,as well as stagnant heat or damp-heat,all of which can ascend along the meridians to affect the nose, throat, and block the adenoids, subsequently causing hyperplastic lesions. The key points of syndrome differentiation are deficiency of both qi and yin,as well as mutual binding of phlegm and blood stasis. The treatment focuses on clearing heat,resol-ving phlegm, removing blood stasis, and dissipating nodules, supplemented by dispelling pathogens and consolidating the exterior.A self-formulated prescription,Huatan Xingyu Sanjie Tang(化痰行瘀散结汤)is used, with clinical modifications based on individual symptoms, achieving satisfactory therapeutic effects. Two case studies are presented for verification.
