Treating infectious mononucleosis in children from the perspective of damp heat
Infectious mononucleosis(IM)is characterized by fever, angina, and cervical lymphadenopathy, which can be categorized under the scope of"warm diseases"in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).In clinical practice, most pediatric patients with this disease are caused by damp heat pathogens, and the application of the treatment method of clearing heat and removing damp has achieved satisfactory efficacy.Starting from the character-istics of damp heat, combined with the clinical manifestations of IM,this paper elaborates on the correlation between them.Based on the syndrome differentiation of the Three Warmers(San Jiao),the treatment involves opening and declaring the Upper Jiao, promoting the smooth flow of the Middle Jiao, and eliminating damp from the Lower Jiao, allowing the damp heat to be eliminated through the Three Warmers. In the later stages of the disease, attention should be paid to the use of herbs that clear heat and nourish blood, promote blood circulation to remove blood sta-sis,resolve phlegm and disperse nodules. One case study is presented for verification.
