Clinical observation on adjuvant therapy of acupuncture combined with moxibustion for 46 cases with pediatric enuresis of bladder cold deficiency pattern
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with moxibustion as adjuvant therapy for pediatric enuresis of bladder cold deficiency pattern. Methods From November 2020 to October 2021,92 pediatric patients with enuresis and cold-deficiency syndrome of the bladder admitted to the Acupuncture-Moxi-bustion and Tuina Department of Wenzhou People's Hospital were enrolled and randomly divided into a control group and a treatment group, with 46 patients in each. Both groups received conventional treatment, including con-trolling water intake before bedtime, regular waking, bladder training, and interrupted voiding training. The control group was orally administered desmopressin tablets, while the treatment group received acupuncture combined with moxibustion on the basis of the control group's treatment. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks as one course of treatment, and the clinical efficacy was evaluated after two courses. Results The total effective rate was 78.26%(36/46)in the control group and 95.65%(44/46)in the treatment group, with a statistically significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05).Before treatment, there were no statistically significant differences in the primary symptom score, secondary symptom score, and total score between the two groups(P>0.05),indicating comparabili-ty.After treatment, the primary symptom score, secondary symptom score, and total score were significantly reduced in both groups compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the reduction was more significant in the treat-ment group(P<0.05).Before treatment, there were no statistically significant differences in functional bladder ca-pacity,bladder residual urine volume, and urine flow rate between the two groups(P>0.05),indicating comparabil-ity.After treatment, functional bladder capacity and urine flow rate were significantly increased, and bladder residual urine volume was significantly decreased in both groups compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),with more significant increases or decreases in the treatment group(P<0.05).Before treatment, there was no statistically sig-nificant difference in serum antidiuretic hormone(ADH)levels between the two groups(P>0.05),indicating com-parability.After treatment, serum ADH levels were significantly increased in both groups compared with those before treatment(P<0.01),and the increase was more significant in the treatment group(P<0.05).Conclusion Acu-puncture combined with moxibustion as adjuvant therapy for pediatric enuresis with cold-deficiency syndrome of the bladder has a definite therapeutic effect, can effectively promote bladder function recovery, improve clinical symp-toms,and regulate serum ADH levels, warranting clinical promotion and application.
