Effects of Taijiquan combined with nutrition education on physical and mental health and nutrition KAP of medical college students:a case study of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine
Objective To explore the effects of Taijiquan combined with nutrition education on physical and mental health and nutrition-related knowledge,attitudes and practices(KAP)of medical college students,and formulate a comprehensive action plan for improving their physical and mental health.Methods Literature review,questionnaire survey,experiment and mathematical statistics were employed to explore the effects of Taijiquan plus nutrition education program.Results Taijiquan with nutrition education promoted the physical health of college students,especially their performances of the seated forward bend and standing long jump with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The program also enhanced the mental health of the students,especially the reduction in such dimensions as learning anxiety,social anxiety,loneliness,impulsivity and physical symptoms with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).In addition,it increased the nutrition KAP of college students,especially their knowledge,attitudes and dietary practices with statistically significant differences(P<0.001).Conclusion Taijiquan combined with nutrition education can improve the physical and mental health of medical college students,reduce their depression,anxiety and stress,and enhance their nutrition-related KAP.
