Exploration of teaching reform in pharmaceutical botany:"one main line,two modes of thinking,and three abilities"
To cultivate the ability of students majoring in Chinese medicine to think in terms of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)and to innovate,the course of Pharmaceutical Botany was reformed based on the concept of inheritance and innovation.The reform focused on the teaching philosophy,content and methods.Emphasis was on placed on students′ learning of classical plant taxonomy and TCM culture,inspiring students to develop both TCM and modern medical thinking and emphasizing the training of students′ ability in"identifying,authenticating,and researching medicinal plants".The preliminary evaluation of the teaching reform showed that it promoted the development of the course and the major,facilitated mutual growth in teaching and learning,preserved the heritage of TCM culture among teachers and students,enhanced students′ innovative thinking abilities,increased students′satisfaction with the course,and contributed to the professional service of local economic development,meeting the training needs of TCM talents in the new era.
