Exploration of reform in the comprehensive examination scheme for the foundational phase of the long-term traditional Chinese medicine education program
The reform of long-term Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) education programmes is a crucial component of deepening the collaboration between medical education and healthcare. Strengthening phased comprehensive examinations is key to ensuring the quality of talent cultivation. The foundational course phase in long-term TCM education is the cornerstone of a medical student's career, and comprehensive exams serve as a phased evaluation of learning outcomes, promoting learning through assessment. Currently, there is limited research on the reform of comprehensive examinations in this stage of TCM long-term education programs. Drawing on prior educational experience,Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, guided by constructivist learning theory, developed an examination scheme centered on "integrated questions" and optimized aspects such as exam design and evaluation methods. Practice has shown that students generally perceive the new examination scheme as significantly higher in complexity, innovation, and challenge, with greater acceptance and a positive impact on their future learning. It also prompts teachers to reflect on course teaching reforms. This exploration aims to provide a reference for similar comprehensive exams and to ensure the cultivation of high-quality TCM talent.
