Research on the competency traits of innovative and entrepreneurial talents in higher traditional Chinese medicine education based on grounded theory
Objective To summarize the traits of innovation and entrepreneurship talent in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) under the background of higher education reform, and to construct a competency model of innovation and entrepreneurship talent to provide theoretical support for promoting student career development and cultivating innovative talent. Methods Using outstanding innovation and entrepreneurship teams from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine as an example,semi-structured interviews were conducted with 85 team leaders. The grounded theory method was applied to perform three levels of coding analysis on the interview data, followed by theoretical saturation testing to construct a competency model of innovation and entrepreneurship talent in TCM. Results A theoretical model of innovation and entrepreneurship talent competency was developed, consisting of three major dimensions——"entrepreneurship substrate," "entrepreneurship potential," and "entrepreneurship traits"——and 20 main categories. Furthermore, the idea of constructing an innovation and entrepreneurship talent cultivation path was proposed under the framework of "integration of expertise and entrepreneurship,co-creation by teachers and students, and project implementation." Conclusion The entrepreneurial substrate is the foundation of TCM entrepreneurship talent and requires an integrated training model to enhance the entrepreneurial substrate;entrepreneurial potential is the cornerstone of TCM innovation and entrepreneurship talent, necessitating a collaborative education ecosystem to foster potential;and entrepreneurship traits are the source of development for TCM talent, requiring a fertile entrepreneurial environment to nurture traits.
