Exploration of a blended and diversified teaching model in the practical course of traditional Chinese medicine decoction pieces processing and identification in the traditional Chinese medicine programme
Theoretical knowledge and practical skills in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) pharmacology are complementary and indispensable. Aiming to cultivate high-level TCM talents proficient in both medicine and pharmacology, the pharmacology course for TCM majors at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine not only includes classroom training on the identification of TCM decoction pieces but also introduces a practice-oriented teaching approach based on the "classroom-decoction piece factory-classroom" pathway. With teachers as the guides and students as the active participants,TCM decoction piece production enterprises serve as the practice bases. Various teaching methods are employed to effectively integrate on-campus and off-campus resources. This innovative "Decoction Pieces Processing and Identification" practical course explores the formation of a blended and diversified teaching model. The introduction of this practical course compensates for the limitations of on-campus classroom teaching in pharmacology, providing a valuable reference for other institutions and offering a demonstrative and promotive effect on the construction of pharmacology courses in TCM universities.
