The general data of nursing students, the scores of professional identity scale and general well-being scale of nursing students were collected. Nursing students were divided into nursing specialist outpatient group (n=69) and non-nursing specialist outpatient group (n=92) according to whether they participated in nursing specialist outpatient practice or not. The differences of professional identity score and subjective well-being score between the two groups were compared, and Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between professional identity and subjective well-being of nursing students. Results The results of this study suggest that compared with the non-specialist nursing clinic internship group, the professional identity and subjective well-being of nursing students participating in the specialist nursing clinic internship are higher (P<0.05). In addition, the nursing students in the specialist nursing clinic practice group had a deeper understanding of specialist nurses and a clearer employment intention (P<0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in practice time, choice of professional methods, school performance, and family status. Correlation analysis showed that the professional identity score of undergraduate nursing students was positively correlated with subjective well-being (r=0.228,P<0.001),that is,the higher the professional identity, the higher the subjective well-being of nursing students. Conclusions The internship experience of specialist nursing clinic has a certain influence on the professional identity and subjective well-being of undergraduate nursing students.Reasonable arrangement of specialist nurses for teaching can make nursing students better integrate into clinical nursing work, which is conducive to the development of mental health and the cultivation of professional quality.
