Research on the spatio-temporal characteristics and competitiveness of the development efficiency of China's exhibition industry——Empirical analysis based on the three-stage DEA model
This paper used the three-stage DEA model to measure the development efficiency of the exhibition industry in 30 provinces and cities in China from 2012 to 2020,explored the spatio-temporal evolution and differences in the development efficiency of the exhibition industry in China, and constructed a"competitiveness efficiency"matrix to evaluate its development trend. The results showed that:①The overall development efficiency of China's conference and exhibition industry is in a relatively low efficiency stage, showing a U-shaped development trend of decreasing and then increasing, and diseconomies of scale are the fundamental reason for the poor development efficiency of the conference and exhibition industry.②The ellipse of the standard deviation of the development effi-ciency of China's conference and exhibition industry is gradually expanding, and the position of the center of gravity generally shifts to the north-west direction, while the center of gravity of the conference and exhibition industry in the north-west direction shifts to the west. The inter-provincial scale evolutionary trend of efficiency hot and cold spots has obvious characteristics.③The environmental perturbation term has exacerbated the redundancy of industrial scale, and the direction of industrial progress is to promote the intensifi-cation of resources, improve the quality of professional labor force, reduce the dependence on the government and technological manage-ment innovation.④The development of China's conference and exhibition industry has a huge disparity between the regions and intra-regions,and the characteristic of"East is strong and West is weak"is obvious, which makes the development of the conference and ex-hibition industry a very difficult task. The development of China's conference and exhibition industry is characterized by a wide gap be-tween regions and regions within regions, with the obvious feature of"strong in the east and weak in the west",which is divided into four types, namely, leading, robust, aggressive and lagging, with lagging dominating, and the regions need to learn from each other's de-velopment advantages to narrow the gap.
