Under the strategic background of high-quality development proposed by the Chinese government,cultural industry has become one of the important resources to promote high-quality economic development.Taking 30 provinces,regions,and cities in Chi-na as the research objects,this paper measured the development level of cultural industry and high-quality economic development from 2012 to 2021 through the entropy weight method,then used the PVAR model to explore their interactive response relationship,and final-ly the modified coupling coordination model and Markov chain were used to deeply analyze their spatio-temporal evolution characteris-tics of the collaborative development.The results showed that:①The comprehensive level of China's provincial cultural industry and high-quality economic development had increased steadily,with the overall level of high-quality economic developent higher than that of the cultural industry,and the average annual growth rate lower than that of the cultural industry.The cultural industry and high-quality economic development in China's provinces exhibited significant spatial heterogeneity,with an overall pattern of increasing gradi-ent from west to east.②There was a two-way interaction relationship between the cultural industry and high-quality economic devel-opment.In the short term,they were greatly affected by the their own development,and in the long term,the interactive influence be-tween each other was constantly strengthened.In the early stage,the cultural industry and high-quality economic development mainly relied on their own development.In the later stage,the role of high-quality economic development in the cultural industry continued to strengthen,and the impact of the cultural industry on high-quallity economic development remained stable within a limited range.③The overall coupling coordination level between the cultural industry and high-quality economic development was relatively low,pres-enting the spatial distribution patterm of"high in the southeast and low in the northwest".④The probability of maintaining the original state of coupling and coordination between China's provincial cultural industry and high-quality economic development was the high-est,and there were phenomena of"Matthew effect"and"culb convergence",making it difficult to achieve a hierarchical evolution.
