Study on the differentiated impacts of tourism activity type on tourists'psychological recovery
Health is the perpetual pursuit of human beings. It has become a trend to fulfill tourists'quest of pleasure experiences and achieve physical and psychological recovery through traveling. However, limited studies explored the differential effects of tourism activities on tourists'psychological recovery.Plus, related mechanisms are still unclear.Based on the Stimulus-Organism-Response Theory and the Social Facilitation Theory, this study constructed a conceptual model which elucidated the differentiated impacts of tourism activity type on tourists'psychological recovery, and examined the mediating role of emotions(arousal and pleasure)and the moderating role of travel companions'gender. Two scenario-based experiments were designed to test the above research hypotheses. The findings were as follows:①Challenging(vs.relaxing)tourism activities had a more significant positive effect on arousal, while rela-xing(vs.challenging)tourism activities had a more significant positive effect on pleasure and psychological recovery.②Pleasure medi-ated the differential effects of tourism activity type on psychological recovery, while the mediating role of arousal was not significant.③The moderating role of travel companions'gender structure was no significant.
