[Objective]As a standardized,specialized,and unified service model,agricultural production trusteeship has significant advantages in cracking resource and environmental constraints and promoting green development of agriculture.It is of great significance to study the green development effect of production trusteeship to guarantee China's food security and promote the modernization of agriculture.[Methods]Based on the survey data of 1238 wheat-producing farming households in Shandong and Henan Provinces,we constructed the slacks-based measure(SBM)model of non-expected output to measure the green production efficiency of grain,and theoretically analyzed and empirically examined the effect of production trusteeship on the green production efficiency of grain of farming households.[Results]The study found that:(1)The average value of green production efficiency of wheat farmers in the main grain producing areas is 0.575,and the overall level of green development is not high;(2)Production trusteeship can significantly improve the green production efficiency of farming households.Taking into account the endogeneity problem and using a variety of ways to carry out the robustness test,the positive impact of production trusteeship is still significant;(3)Production trusteeship has greater effect on the green development of farming households in the medium-high green production efficiency group;Compared with Shandong Province,production trusteeship has a stronger effect on the improvement of green production efficiency of farming households in Henan Province;Compared with small-scale farmers and farming households with low degree of non-farming engagements,production trusteeship has a stronger effect on the green development of farmers with a large actual scale of operation and a high degree of non-farming engagements.[Conclusion]Accordingly,it is recommended that we should improve the policy support system for green agricultural production,guide the high-quality development of the agricultural production trusteeship business,provide diversified trusteeship service programs,and change the production mode of farmers to help promote the transformation of green agricultural development in China.
