Energy saving and emission reduction effects of land transfer and its mechanism
[Objective]As an important driving force for agricultural production agglomeration and operation at moderate scales, the effects of land transfer on achieving energy saving and emission reduction is related to the effective implementation of China's agricultural green transformation.Exploring the effects of land transfer on energy saving and emission reduction and its underlying mechanisms can provide an important reference for deepening rural land system reform and achiev-ing energy saving and emission reduction goals.[Methods]Based on the inter-provincial panel da-ta from 2005 to 2021,this study used the generalized dynamic spatial model and the intermediary effect model to analyze the effect of land transfer on energy saving and emission reduction and its underlying mechanism.[Results](1)Land transfer significantly inhibited agricultural carbon emis-sions,indicating that it has an emission reduction effect;Energy consumption is an important source of agricultural carbon emissions, and land transfer can curb agricultural carbon emissions by reducing energy consumption, which means that land transfer also has an energy-saving effect;(2)Land transfer can promote energy saving and emission reduction by promoting agricultural produc-tion agglomeration;(3)Further analysis revealed that land transfer in the main grain producing ar-eas and the southeastern side of the Hu Huanyong Line showed significant emission reduction ef-fects,while land transfer in the production-marketing balance areas and the northwestern side of the Hu Huanyong Line showed significant energy-saving effects;(4)The energy saving and emis-sion reduction effects of land transfer only occurred at moderate operating scales, and too large or too small operating scale is not conducive to the realization of energy saving and emission reduc-tion effects.[Conclusion]In the process of promoting land transfer,it is necessary to attach impor-tance to policy measures that reduce agricultural energy consumption, fully consider regional differ-ences,accelerate agricultural production agglomeration, and promote moderate scale operation of agricultural production.
