Effects of preoperative cleansing enema on postoperative abdominal distension and constipation in patients undergoing lumbar spine surgery
Objective:To investigate the effect of preoperative cleansing enema on the first postoperative defecation time and postoperative abdominal distension and constipation in patient undergoing elective lumbar spine surgery. Methods:A total of 60 patients with elective lumbar spine surgery hospitalized in the Department of Spine and Bone of Gansu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2021 to December 2021 were divided into the treatment group(30 cases)and the control group(30 cases). The basic data of patients in the two groups, such as gender and age,was comparable(P<0.05).The control group was given routine care(diet intervention, psychological intervention, preoperative preparation)before surgery. The treatment group was given cleansing enema the night before the operation on the basis of the routine care in the control group, and the patients in both groups were given routine treatment after the operation, including fasting for 6 hours, correcting water and electrolyte disturbance and acid-base imbal-ance,anti-infection and other symptomatic treatments. The time of the first postoperative defecation and the occurrence of postoperative abdominal distension and constipation of the patients in both groups were recorded. The results were compared and analyzed by statistical software. Results:The average time of first defecation in the control group was(66.81±8.72)h,while that in the treatment group was(61.56±9.19)h.Compared with the treatment group, the average time of first defecation in the treatment group was significantly shorter than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Postoperative abdominal distension and constipation in the treatment group were significantly less than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Con-clusion:For patients undergoing elective lumbar spine surgery, preoperative cleansing enema can effectively shorten the first postoperative defecation time and reduce postoperative complications such as abdominal distension and constipation, improve patient satisfaction.and is worthy of clinical promotion and application,to better serve patients.
