Correlation between chemotherapy induced myelosuppression and traditional Chinese medicine constitution in patients with colorectal cancer
Objective:In this study, through the identification of traditional Chinese medicine constitution in patients with colorectal cancer who were treated with capecitabine plus oxaliplatin(XELOX)chemotherapy regimen, the intrinsic correlation between TCM constitution and myelosuppression induced by XELOX chemotherapy regimen was explored, and its predictive significance for myelo-suppression was clarified. Methods:A total of 80 patients with colorectal cancer in the Department of Proctology of Linyi Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from October 2020 to August 2022 were selected. Before chemotherapy, all patients were identified by the TCM constitution type identification questionnaire, and then were given XELOX chemotherapy regimen for chemotherapy. The occurrence of myelosuppression was counted after 4 cycles of chemotherapy, and Logistic regression was used for statistical analysis to explore the internal correlation between different TCM constitution types and the occurrence of myelosuppression in colorectal cancer patients. Results:Among all types of TCM con-stitution,Qi(气)stagnation constitution patients had the highest proportion of myelosuppression, followed by damp-heat constitution patients.Among them, there were 16 Qi stagnation constitution patients, and l1 damp-heat constitution patients experienced myelosuppression, accounting for 68.75%(11/16).There were 25 damp-heat constitution patients, and 16 patients experienced myelosuppression, accounting for 64.00%(16/25).The degree of myelosuppression in Qi stagnation constitution patients was mainly 2 degrees, there were 6 cases, accounting for 37.5%(6/16).The degree of myelosuppression in the damp-heat constitution patients was mainly 1 degree, there were 9 cases, accounting for 36.0%(9/25).Logistic regression statistical analysis showed that Qi stagnation constitution[P=0.033,OR=13.2,95%CI:1.239-140.679]and damp-heat constitution[P=0.041,OR=10.667,95%CI:1.103-103.15]were risk factors for myosuppression in patients with colorectal cancer. Conclusion:TCM consti-tution can predict the occurrence of myelosuppression caused by XELOX chemotherapy, and the probability of myelosuppression is higher in Qi-stagnation constitution and damp-heat constitution patients.
