A Meta-analysis of efficacy and safety of the clearing away heat and toxic material therapy on essential hypertension in clinical randomized controlled trials
Objective:To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the clearing away heat and toxic material therapy on essential hypertension in clinical randomized controlled trials.Methods:CNKI,Wanfang,VIP,CBM,PubMed,Embase,the Cochrane Library and Web of Science were searched for clinical randomized controlled trials of the clearing away heat and toxic material therapy on essential hypertension from the establishment of the database to October 31,2022 according to the Cochrane Handbook,the data extraction and quality evaluation of the included studies were carried out,and Meta-analysis was carried out by RevMan 5.4.Results:A total of 24 clinical randomized controlled trials were included for analysis.The final results showed that the combination of the clearing away heat and toxic material therapy and western medicine in the treatment of essential hypertension has better clinical efficacy than western medicine alone[OR=3.78,95%CI(2.84,5.04),P<0.00001],its efficacy on systolic blood pressure[SMD=-1.17,95%CI(-1.71,-0.64),P<0.0001]and diastolic blood pressure[SMD=-0.89,95%CI(-1.37,-0.40),P=0.0003]is better than western medicine alone,and can improve the efficacy of syndromes[OR=3.76,95%CI(2.56,5.53),P<0.00001]and reduce TCM symptom scores[MD=-0.78,95%CI(-1.00,-0.57),P<0.00001].The experiment group had fewer adverse reactions[OR=0.28,95%CI(0.13,0.59),P=0.00008].Conclusion:This article makes a systematic evaluation and Meta-analysis of the efficacy and safety of the clearing away heat and toxic material therapy in the treatment of essential hypertension in clinical randomized controlled trials in recent years.The results show that western medicine combined with the clearing away heat and toxic material therapy can effectively improve the clinical efficacy on essential hypertension,alleviate the symptoms of patients,improve the quality of life,and its safety is better than that of western medicine alone.In view of the limitations of the original literature included in this study,we need to be cautious in clinical application,and more high-quality clinical randomized controlled trials need to be carried out to further demonstrate the results of the study.
