An analysis of treating knee osteoarthritis by internal hot acupuncture based on meridian tendon theory
Meridian tendons refer to muscles, tendons and other soft tissues, which do not connect to the viscera and do not circulate Qi(气)and blood, but connect the limbs and can make the joints move.Essentially, they belong to the musculoskeletal system attached to the meridians.According to traditional Chinese medicine, the pathogenesis of knee osteoarthritis is related to the flaccidity of tendon and muscle caused by abnormal function of meridian tendons.Related studies have also confirmed that the pathogenesis of the disease is related to the deterioration of knee soft tissue function, mechanical imbalance around the knee, subchondral bone damage and osteophyte formation and other factors.Internal hot acupuncture is a new type of acupuncture tool, which is developed from the technology of long acupuncture and lifting acupuncture in ancient nine needles. It uses special acupuncture to pierce into the soft tissue, combined with constant temperature heating technology, with the advantages of large amount of stimulation, controllable temperature and uniform heat conduction. The main mechanism of its effects on knee osteoarthritis is to relieve the local nerve entrapment of the knee and restore the biomechanical balance of the knee joint. This article uses the meridian tendon theory to guide the internal hot acupuncture to treat knee osteoarthritis, emphasizes the needling painful point theory in the treatment site, takes the pain as the acupuncture site, and selects the tendon node of the six meridian tendons around the knee for treatment. In the method of treatment, internal hot acupuncture is used to eliminate the contracture and adhesion of soft tissue on the focal point of tendon, which has the effect of knife replaced by acupuncture, and relaxation by relieving pain.Based on the meridian tendon theory, this paper summarizes and discusses the clinical application of internal hot acupuncture in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. It is considered that internal hot acupuncture therapy can effectively improve the clinical symptoms of knee osteoarthritis by debonding clustered nodules, dispelling cold and removing dampness, warming and activating meridian and regulating activities of Qi and blood.
