Discussion on needle retention scheme of scalp acupuncture in the treatment of children with intellectual developmental disorder
Objective:To explore retention needle schemes for acupuncture treatment in children with intellectual developmental disorder(IDD).Methods:Children presenting with intellectual developmental disorder as the primary symptom received acupuncture treatment interventions.Nine different schemes, composed of two parameters-retention needle duration(1 hour,2 hours,4 hours)and needle-twisting frequency(every 10 minutes, every 20 minutes, every 30 minutes),were used to group the children.Gesell assessments and daily life ability assessments were rigorously conducted before and after treatment to compare the intervention effects of different retention needle schemes on children with IDD.Results:The effectiveness of acupuncture treatment was influenced by retention needle duration and needle-twisting frequency, with varying degrees of impact on different outcome measures.Retention needle duration significantly influenced the improvement of children's developmental quotient, while needle-twisting frequency had a greater impact on daily life ability assessments. Conclusion:For acupuncture treatment in children with IDD,the most effective retention needle scheme is to retain the needles for 4 hours with a needle-twisting frequency of every 10 minutes.
