A review on anti-aging treatment and drug intervention on postmenopausal osteoporosis based on Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway
Osteoporosis is a common disease in postmenopausal women, which is a systemic bone disease that is prone to fracture due to a decrease in systemic bone density, microstructural destruction, and increased fragility caused by a variety of factors. In 2001,the National Institutes of Health defined it as a bone disorder characterized by decreased bone strength and an increased risk of fractures.Studies have proved that aging is one of the important risk factors for postmenopausal osteoporosis, cellular aging is closely related to body aging.Related studies have proved that hydrogen peroxide and superoxide and other reactive oxygen species are important triggers of cell aging. In addition, the traditional view in the field of free radical biology believes that reactive oxygen species is the main cause of oxidative stress.Relevant studies have shown that nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2)and heme oxygenase-1(HO-1)can regulate the damage caused by oxidative stress by eliminating reactive oxygen species and anti-inflammatory effects. Therefore, this paper combines the basic theory of traditional Chinese medicine with the molecular level of modern medicine, and explores the mechanism of preventing postmenopausal osteoporosis by regulating Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway and intervening oxidative stres.
