Research progress of treatment of functional dyspepsia with the Banxia Xiexin decoction in differentiation
Functional dyspepsia(FD)is one of the common functional gastrointestinal diseases in clinical practice.Its main clinical manifestations include repeated or persistent postmeal fullness,upper abdominal pain or burning sensation,erectation,nausea and vomit-ing,and its prevalence tends to increase year by year,excluding clear organic causes.It seriously affects people's quality of life and brings heavy burden of disease to the society.At present,western medicine is mainly based on symptomatic treatment,such as acid suppression and pro-moting gastrointestinal motility,etc.,which is with poor clinical efficacy and high recurrence rate.According to the different clinical symptoms,FD belongs to the category of"stomach fullness""stomach pain",etc.in traditional Chinese medicine.The treatment of traditional Chinese medi-cine takes the combination of disease differentiation and syndrome differentiation,which is mostly based on liver,spleen and stomach,both symp-toms and root causes are treated,and the flexible selection of prescription has a achieved satisfactory curative effect.FD is one of the dominant diseases treated by traditional medicine,among which the Banxia Xiexin decoction(半夏泻心汤)is the most classic.As one of the representa-tive prescriptions in Shanghan Lun《伤寒论》,the Banxia Xiexin decoction is mainly used to treat the epigastric fullness syndrome of liver and spleen imbalance and cold and heat intermingling.With the in-depth exploration of traditional medicine and the organic integration with modern medicine,a large number of clinical studies have found that the Banxia Xiexin decoction combined with other prescriptions or combined with oth-er traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine can produce the effect on both symptoms and root causes and complementing each other's advantages.Modern medicine has explored its mechanism of action from the prospectives of gastrointestinal function and structure,indicating that the good curative effect of the Banxia Xiexin decoction on FD is the result of multiple comprehensive effects,including regulating gastrointestinal function,regulating gastrointestinal flora,inhibiting the production of inflammatory factors,and changing the ultrastructure of interstitial cells of Cajal.This article introduces the research progress of the Banxia Xiexin decoction in the treatment of FD from three prospectives:theoretical re-search,clinical trials and mechanism of action,in order to provide new ideas for clinical syndrome differentiation and treatment.
