A Meta analysis of Chinese medicine intervention for treating female stress urinary incontinence
Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of Chinese medicine intervention in the treatment of female SUI.Methods:Chinese literature of CNKI,VIP,Wanfang,China Biomedical Literature Service System, and English literature of PubMed,Cochrane Library,Science,EMbase and Web of Science databases were searched by computer from the establishment of the databaseto November 10,2022.The included samples were divided into the experimental group(Chinese medicine intervention group)and the control group(Non-Chinese medicine intervention group).Data analysis was performed using RevMan 5.4.1 system. Results:A total of 16 RCT studies were included, with a sample size of 1 227 cases.Compared with the control group, the experimental group had a higher effective rate[OR=5.09,95%CI(3.50,7.40),P<0.000 01],and the ICI Q-SF score[MD=-1.47,95%CI(-1.98,-0.97),P<0.000 01],TCM syndrome score[MD=-3.36,95%CI(-5.44,-1.27),P=0.002]were decreased, urine leakage in 1h pad test[MD=-2.57,95%CI(-3.27,-1.87),P<0.000 01],the mean num-ber of urine leakage in 24 hours[MD=-1.29,95%CI(-2.01,-0.56),P=0.0005]decreased,the mean value of class Ⅱ[MD=5.15,95%CI(1.03,9.28),P=0.01],the mean value of class Ⅰ[MD=4.39,95%CI(2.15,6.64),P=0.0001],maximum EMG value of class Ⅱ muscles[MD=7.21,95%CI[4.30,10.12],P<0.000 01]were increased, and the incidence of adverse reactions was reduced[OR=0.39,95%CI(0.18,0.87)].In terms of follow-up results, the ICI Q-SF score[MD=-2.25,95%CI(-3.56,-0.94),P=0.0008]and the average number of urinary leakage in 24h[MD=-2.73,95%CI(-3.97,-1.48),P<0.000 1]of the experimental group showed better results. Conclusion:Based on modern Western medicine treat-ment methods,TCM intervention for female SUI improves TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment, provides patients with an individualized treatment plan combining traditional Chinese and Western medicine, effectively improves the clinical efficiency of female SUI treatment, promotes TCM syndrome score and ICI Q-SF score, alleviates urinary leakage symptoms, and improves pelvic floor muscle strength to a certain extent. The inci-dence of adverse reactions is reduced, the safety is good, the follow-up outcome is considerable, and the clinical efficacy and quality of life of patients are comprehensively improved. However,in the future, the support of large-sample,multi-center and high-quality RCT research evidence is still needed.
