Experience in treating sequelae of novel coronavirus infection with Dunhuang ancient medical prescriptions
There are about one thousand Dunhuang ancient medical prescriptions(敦煌古医方),which are rich in content and involve the treatment of various diseases,and have high clinical practical value.Professor LI Yingcun is the leader of Dunhuang Medical discipline in the"Twelfth Five-Year Plan"key discipline of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine,a famous TCM in Gansu Province,a famous Dunhuang medical expert in China,and a representative of Dunhuang medical school(敦煌医 派).Common sequelae of novel coronavirus infection include cough,fatigue,hair loss,insomnia and other symptoms.Professor LI Yingcun believes that patients with sequelae of novel coronavirus infection suffer from deficiency of healthy Qi(气).Although the pathogens have basically disappeared,they have been ill for a long time and have lost blood,which has affected the normal function of lungs,hearts,spleens,kidneys and other viscera.Professor LI identified cough and sore throat as deficiency of lung Qi,weakness and alopecia as deficiency of spleen and kidney,insomnia and forgetfulness as deficiency of heart blood.For lung Qi deficiency syndrome,the Dunhuang Zisu decoction(敦煌紫苏煎)with the Liao Fengxu Shouruo prescription(疗风虚瘦弱方)was used to promote lung and eliminate the pathogenic factors.For spleen and kidney deficiency syndrome,the Dunhuang Dabushen decoction(敦煌大补肾汤)with the Liao Fengxu Shouruo prescription was used to supplement spleen and kidney.For blood deficiency syndrome,Dunhuang Shenmiao Buxin Wan(敦煌神妙补心丸)was used to nourish heart and calm the mind.The above methods have achieved good curative effects.This paper introduces Professor LI's experience in treating sequelae of novel coronavirus infection with Dunhuang ancient prescription combined with cases,in order to provide reference for clinical practice.It should be reminded that there are some limitations in the treatment of the sequelae of novel coronavirus infection based on syndrome differentiation of traditional Chinese medicine.Novel coronavirus infection can also lead to other symptoms,such as weakened sexual function,which needs further discussion and research in the future.
