Polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)has become one of the common gynecological diseases in contemporary China. This disease not only affects women's reproductive health, but may also cause a series of psychological and physiological problems, seriously harming the physical and mental health of Chinese women. However, there is no clear statement about the exact pathogenesis of PCOS in the medical community.Based on the literature research, this paper summarizes the research on the pathogenesis and syndrome differentiation of PCOS in traditional Chinese medicine.Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the pathogenesis of PCOS is based on kidney deficiency, and may be accompanied by liver depression, phlegm, blood stasis and other factors. Therefore, the traditional Chinese medicine treatment of PCOS usually focuses on tonifying the kidney,in addition,it adopts a variety of methods such as soothing the liver, eliminating phlegm and promoting blood circulation. In addition, traditional Chinese medicine also advocates the combination of treatment with Western medicine to achieve better clinical results. This article not only summarizes the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of PCOS,but also points out the shortcomings.Traditional Chinese medicine has shown unique advantages in the treatment of PCOS,such as paying attention to the whole concept, syndrome differentiation and treatment. However, there are also some shortcomings, such as the lack of large-scale clinical trials and clear pharmacological studies. In conclusion, traditional Chinese medicine has a wide range of application prospects in the treatment of PCOS,which is worthy of further exploration and research. It is expected that this paper can provide some reference value for the clinical work.
