A study on the anti-aging mechanism of rattan moxibustion of Li nationality in Hainan at Sihua acupoints on senile rats
Objective:To investigate whether rattan moxibustion at Sihua acupoints(四花穴)can delay aging by regulating anti-inflammatory,antioxidant and immune mechanisms in elderly rats.Methods:The aged rats were divided into the rattan moxibustion group,the moxibustion group,the medicine group and the model group,and received rattan moxibustion,moxibustion,Jingui Shenqi Wan(金 匮 肾 气 丸),and no intervention.After 60 days,the learning and memory ability,and anti-fatigue ability of rats were observed by water maze experiment.The levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px),total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC)and other related indexes were detected.At the same time,the brain tissue and thymus stained sections were taken to observe the effects of rattan moxibustion on the morphological changes of nerve cells in CA1 region of hippocampus.Results:After treatment by rattan moxibustion,the incubation period of rats in water maze experiment was significantly shortened,and the swimming distance was increased(P<0.01).Compared with the model group,the activities of SOD and GSH-PX in the rattan moxibustion group were improved(P<0.05),T-AOC in the rattan moxibustion group was increased(P<0.05),and the activity and quantity of nerve cells in hippocampal CA1 region were improved.Conclusion:Rattan moxibustion can effectively improve the abilities of learning and memory,positioning navigation,and anti-fatigue ability of rats,also can significantly increase the oxidase content of rats,effectively remove excess free radicals in the body,and improve the activity of hippocampal neurons,thus effectively delay aging.
