Professor ZHENG Li's clinical experience in treating functional constipation of Yin deficiency and intestinal dryness type with acupuncture and medicine
Constipation is a kind of disease with reduced defecation frequency,small amount of feces and dry knots.According to different etiologies,the disease can be divided into organic constipation and functional constipation.The total incidence of chronic functional constipation in China is about 10.9％.Long term constipation causes a significant decline in people's health and quality of life,and induces or aggravates a variety of diseases.Professor ZHENG Li is a well-known expert of Xinhua Hospital Affiliated to Hubei University of Traditional Chinese Medicine,a member of the standing committee Member of the Preventive Treatment Professional Committee of the Chinese Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine,and the successor of the academic experience of the seventh batch of famous old experts of traditional Chinese medicine in China.She has been engaged in clinical work of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine for many years,has a solid theoretical foundation and rich clinical experience,and has unique insights in the treatment of medical diseases.In the differential diagnosis and treatment of functional constipation,Professor ZHENG Li believes that Yin(阴)deficiency and intestinal dryness syndrome is one of the common syndrome types,in which the Yin deficiency of spleen and kidney leads to body fluid dryness.According to the functional constipation of Yin deficiency and intestinal dryness syndrome,Professor ZHENG Li used both traditional Chinese medicine and umbilical acupuncture to treat both internal and external symptoms,and achieved good curative effect.On the one hand,she chose the Zengye decoction(增液汤),which can not only attack the pathogenic factors,but also prevent deficiency.On the other hand,she used umbilical needle therapy to tonify and nourish Yin.This set of treatment method of traditional Chinese medicine plays a role in replenishing Qi(气)and nourishing Yin,moistening the intestine and defecating.Umbilical needle therapy plays a role in tonifying the spleen and kidney and regulating Qi and Ying.This paper introduces Professor ZHENG's successful experience in treating functional constipation of Yin deficiency and intestinal dryness syndrome with acupuncture and medicine combined with cases,in order to provide clinical reference.
