Meta-analysis of the effect of Xiakucao capsules on autoimmune level in Hashimoto thyroiditis patients
Objectives:To systematically evaluate the effects of Xiakucao capsules(夏枯草胶囊)combined with Euthyrox on thy-roid autoimmunity.Methods:The randomized controlled trials on the treatment of Hashimoto thyroiditis with Xiakucao capsules were collected through computer searches of Pubmed,EMbase,The Cochrane Library,CNKI,Wanfang,Vip,CBM and J-stage databases,and the search time was from the establishment of the database to March 2023.Meta-analysis was performed by using Revman5.4 software after two researchers independently screened literature,extracted data and evaluated the risk of bias in included studies.Results:A total of seven RCT studies were included,including 662 patients.Among them,331 cases were in the experimental group(Xiakucao capsules+Euthyrox)and 331 cases were in the control group(Euthyrox).The results of Meta-analysis showed that the Thyroid peroxidase antibody(TPOAb),Thyroglobulin antibodies(TGAb),T helper cells 17/CD4+T cells(T helper cell 17/CD4+T Lymphocyte,Th 17/CD4+T)level of Xiakucao capsules combined with Euthyrox group was better than that of the control group[MD=-95.65,95％CI(-114.72,-76.57),P＜0.00001];[MD=-88.63,95％CI(-112.55,-64.71),P＜0.00001];[MD=-1.10,95％CI(-1.28,-0.92),P＜0.00001].Conclusions:Current evidence shows that Xiakucao capsules combined with Euthyrox is superior to the control group in reducing the levels of TPOAb,TGAb and TH 17/CD4+T cells in Hashimoto thyroiditis(HT)pa-tients.Due to limited quality and quantity of the included studies,more high-quality studies are required to verify the above conclusion.
