XU Jiadong's discussion on ZHANG Ji's six meridians differentiation and treatment of"dampness disease"
According to the three Yin(阴)and three Yang(阳)disease location,ZHANG Ji,a medical sage,established specific treatment principles of dampness disease,which is a model in ancient and modem times.Professor XU Jiadong is a renowned scholar ofclassic prescriptions and a leading figure in the academic system of classic prescriptions.Over the years,he has excavated and restored the medical system of Zhongjing prescriptions,forming a unique method of"understanding the pathogenesis and treating typhoid fever''.He has explored the mystery behind the"differentiation"of the six diseases at the beginning of the Treatise on Febrile Diseases and established a rigorous and comprehensive academic system for the diagnosis and treatment of classic prescriptions,pathogenesis,and mechanisms.This paper introduces Professor XU Jiadong's understanding of the medical sage,ZHANG Ji's differentiation and treatment of the six meridians diseases,and systematically summarizes the disease names,pathogenesis characteristics,treatment principles,transmission and transformation rules,taboos,and other aspects of dampness diseases in the six meridians.Professor XU Jiadong summarizes ZHANG Ji's classic works on"wind dampness","cold dampness","dampness"and"dampness rheumatism"collectively as"dampness diseases".All six meridians can suffer from dampness diseases,Mahuang Jiashu decoction(麻黄加术汤)is prescribed to slightly induce sweating in the treatment of Taiyang(太阳)cold and dampness;Chaihu and Longgu Muli decoction(柴胡加龙骨牡蛎汤)is prescribed to relieve exterior dampness,clear heat and relieve Sanjiao in the treatment of Shaoyang(少阳)dampness disease;Mahuang Xingren Yiyi Gancao decocuon(麻黄杏仁薏苡甘草汤)is prescribed to gently clear and relieve dampness,relieve surface and remove dampness in the treatment of Taiyang and Yangming(阳明)dampness disease;If the dampness diseases belong to the category of three Yin(三阴),Fangji Huangqi decoction(防己黄芪汤)is prescribed to dispel the cold and dampness of the surface,while also nourishing the stomach Qi(气)in the treatment of Taiyin(太阴)dampness disease;In the treatment of Shaoyin wind dampness diseases,according to the severity of cold dampness on the surface and the rise and fall of Yangqi(阳气)inside,Guizhi Fuzi decoction(桂枝附子汤),BaizhuFuzidecoction(白术附子汤),andGancaoFuzidecoction(甘草附子汤)are selected to dissipate cold,dispel dampness and warm Yang;In the treatment of Jueyin(厥阴)dampness diseases,Qianjin Qianhu Guizhi Qiongqiong decoction(千金前胡桂枝芎(藭)汤),in which bamboo leaf is removed,gypsum and dried tangerine peel are added,is prescribed to to remove dampness,relieve rheumatism,clear heat and nourish blood,promote Qi circulation and reduce reflux,and regulate Sanjiao.In addition,in the treatment of dampness diseases,Professor XU Jiadong puts forward the precautions of avoiding fire attack,avoiding the use of putging method and avoiding excessive sweating.It provides the diagnosis and treatment idea for the clinical differentiation and treatment of dampness disease.
