The relationship between the five viscera and esophageal cancer-related depression based on the theory of Yang deficiency causes depression
Esophageal cancer-associated depression belongs to the category of tumor-associated depression.It is a series of pathological reactions induced by esophageal malignant tumors,which can be classified into the category of depression syndrome in traditional Chinese medicine.The treatment effect of modern medicine on this disease is poor,and the adverse reaction is large,which seriously affects the prognosis of the patients as well as the quality of survival.In this paper,by elaborating the connotation of the theory of Yang(阳)deficiency causes depression,we propose that Yang deficiency is the fundamental etiology and mechanism of depression syndrome,and discuss the pathogenesis of esophageal cancer-related depression syndrome and the application of the five viscera Yang deficiency theory in the clinical treatment of this disease.In terms of the pathogenesis,it is believed that due to the combination of factors such as disease stage,surgery and radiotherapy,five viscera of patients with esophageal cancer are unable to exert their physiological functions normally due to Yang deficiency,which directly or indirectly affects the development of esophageal cancer-associated depression,resulting in a series of depressive moods and somatization symptoms.In terms of the treatment,it is proposed that in the early stage of esophageal cancer,Yangqi(阳气)deficiency of lung and liver and imbalance of Qi(气)movement are the foundation;in the middle and late stage,gradual decline of the innate and acquired essence due to Yangqi deficiency of spleen and kidney is the key;and in the whole course of the disease,abnormal consciousness after heart Yang insufficiency is the foundation.Therefore,it is advocated to treat the disease by stages,focusing on warming and replenishing Yangqi of the five viscera,so as to support Yang,tranquilize the spirit,and relieve depression.In this paper,focusing on the five viscera Yang deficiency theory,the diagnosis and treatment of esophageal cancer-associated depression are elaborated from the perspectives of pathogenesis and treatment method,with a view to providing a new path for clinical treatment of the disease.
