A review on Mongolian medicine Lancitou in the prevention and treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis
Postmenopausal osteoporosis is a metabolic disease caused by the decline of ovarian endocrine dysfunction and estrogen level in postmenopausal women.A large number of studies have confirmed that estrogen can effectively prevent bone loss in postmenopausal women, but long-term use of estrogen treatment will have many adverse effects on the human body.At present, the new trend in the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis is the combination of medicines.Finding an alternative to estrogen in traditional Chinese medicine plays an important role in the prevention and treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis. The combination of traditional Chinese medicine and ethnic medicine has a significant effect on the prevention and treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis. As a common medicine in the orthopedics and traumatology department of Mongolian medicine,Lancitou(蓝刺头)is distributed in northeast China,Inner Mongolia and other places. It is one of the wild herbs collected by Mongolian medicine for self-use,has the effects of bone healing, pain relief and heat clearing, and is often used in the treatment of osteoporosis, fractures, sores and so on.The estrogen-like effect of the Lancitou increases bone density by regulating bone resorption-formation coupling, thereby preventing rapid loss of bone mass.In recent years, the chemical and pharmacological research of Lancitou has gradually increased, and its anti-osteoporosis effect has been confirmed for many times. However, most of its research on the prevention and treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis focuses on single-target research, the mechanism of Lancitou in promoting fracture healing still needs to be further explored. This article summarizes the anti-postmenopausal osteoporosis effect of Lancitou from various aspects, and provide scientific guidance for the rational application of Lancitou in clinic.
