A review on the correlation between diabetic nephropathy and Qi-deficiency constitution
Diabetic nephropathy(DN),as the main complication of diabetes,seriously threatens the health of patients.Relevant literature shows that Qi-deficiency(气虚)constitution is an important constitution type of diabetic nephropathy.Through a comprehensive analysis of the theoretical research,experimental research and clinical research in the past ten years,this paper discusses the correlation between Qi-deficiency constitution and DN.It was found that Qi-deficiency manifested as low physiological function due to insufficient vitality,which was closely related to the high incidence and progression of DN.The formation of Qi-deficiency constitution is closely related to innate endowments,acquired factors such as age,diet,work and rest,and emotions.In traditional Chinese medicine,Qi-deficiency constitution may promote the formation of pathological products such as phlegm dampness and blood stasis,and aggravate the course of DN by affecting lung,spleen and kidney functions.In terms of treatment strategies,this paper summarized various methods of TCM treatment of DN,including prescriptions,acupuncture,diet,etc.,emphasizing the adjustment and enhancement of body vitality,the therapeutic principles of tonifying Qi(气)and strengthening spleen,tonifying kidney and reinforcing essence,and promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis,in order to harmonize Qi and blood,relieve symptoms,and delay disease progression.The experimental study further revealed the biological relationship between Qi-deficiency constitution and DN susceptibility,and provided scientific basis for TCM treatment.In addition,this paper also discussed the difference of physical types of DN patients at different stages,and the influence of geographical,age,living habits and other factors on constitution type distribution.Finally,this paper put forward future research directions,including expanding the sample size,further studying the physiological and biochemical indexes of Qi-deficiency constitution,using modern science and technology to explore the internal mechanism of Qi-deficiency constitution and DN,and carrying out more clinical studies on TCM treatment methods.These studies will provide more accurate strategies for the prevention and treatment of DN.
