Discovery of Dactylicapnos arunachalensis(Papaveraceae)from China with Supplementary Description
Dactylicapnos arunachalensis Lidén & M.K.Pathak was recently identified in the Du-longjiang area,Yunnan province,China. This species was previously published by Indian scholars, but according to the location of collection of type specimens provided in their literature, the map shows that it is within China. In this paper, the morphological characteristics of this species were described in detail and a Chinese name was given.D.arunachalensis greatly resembles D.grandifo-liolata but can be distinguished based on its shorter inflorescence and peduncle. This species should be considered critically endangered(CR)according to the criteria set by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, making conservation an urgent matter. The discovery of D.arunachalensis not only enriches our knowledge of plant diversity in Yunnan but also provides a possible herbal medici-nal resource.Further studies are required to gain a stronger understanding of the plants'distribution throughout China and explore its potential applications.
