Paradigm Shift of World Peoples Studies in the New Era
Based on the adjustment of ethnology discipline in 2024,the authors review the development process and achievements of world peoples studies in China and focus on how to provide knowledge supply and intellectual support for it,centering on the domestic and international situation,the overall situation of the Party and the state in the new era.The authors hold that in its initial stage,the purpose of world peoples studies is"to serve domestic ethnic affairs,to serve China's diplomatic affairs,"and mainly to serve China's national political needs.Through exploration and development,world peoples studies has gradually become"a comprehensive applied discipline with the basic mission of studying various ethnic phenomena,ethnic issues,ethnic policies,and nationalism theories in the contemporary world and exploring the interactive law and governance of ethnic relations."After 2014,world peoples studies has ushered in a broader space for development and has gradually realized a fundamental shift in the research paradigm within the context of the once-in-a-century changes taking place in the world and the world entering into a constant turbulent revolutionary period.
