Ethics as the Group:Liang Shuming's New Rural Organization
The theoretical attempt in Liang Shu-ming's rural construction is to construct ethical organizations by rationality(li-xing).In the ethics-oriented society,rationality has the ability to extend itself to others,which is reflected in ethical friendship and upward mobility in life.As the carrier of rural construction,village school continues the tradition of the rural covenant.It constructed an ethical organization based on rituals and customs,while connecting intellectuals with general public,involving local political and moral leaders.Four ritual identities are shaped by rural organization,shouldering respective responsibilities of legislating,administrating,supervision and promoting design.It can not only fulfill the obligations for the group around the action,but also maintain the ethical friendship in the mutual oriented mentality.The design of village organizations by Liang Shuming remains significantly valuable to the social construction of contemporary Chinese society.
