The Reasons for the Non-Bureaucratization of Rongmei Tusi during the Kangxi Period from the Case of Tian Shunnian
"The Case of Tian Shunnian",which occurred during the Kangxi Dynasty,was caused by the conflict between the Rongmei Tusi and the local officials,as well as within the Rongmei Tusi.The controversy over the bureaucratization of Rongmei Tusi and other native officers was triggered around the handling of"the Case of Tian Shunnian".The Kangxi Emperor,in view of the threat ofMongolia in the west of the desert,the grave situation of the Miao border in Hubei and Hunan,and the relationship between the neighbouring native officers,etc.,punished Rongmei Tusi and other native officers involved in"the Case of Tian Shunnian"by dismissing them from their posts,placing them in the mainland,demoting them,and punishing them with a salary,but did not carry out the bureaucratization of Ron-gmei Tusi.
