This article discusses the development and evolution of the character"Jin"from three aspects:shape,sound and meaning.The article mainly elaborates on the development and changes of the form,phonetics,and semantics of"Jin"from ancient times to the present in the following four aspects——the evolution of the form of"Jin",the development and changes in the meaning of"Jin',the develop-ment and evolution of the phonology of"Jin"and its expression in modem mandarin dialects.
