Academic Reading in the Digital Era:Opportunities and Challenges——Based on Teaching Guide for Undergraduate English Major(2020)
The rapid development of digital technology has changed the academic reading habits of college students.However,there is relatively limited research on academic reading for college students in the context of digital technology,especially in terms of the requi-rements of the Teaching Guide for Undergraduate English Majors(hereinafter referred to as the Guide 2020).Exploring the opportuni-ties and challenges faced by undergraduate English majors in digital academic reading is relatively fewer.Based on the current digital background and the requirements of the Guide 2020,this study explores the opportunities that digital technology provides for English majors'academic reading from three aspects:academic reading motivation,digital reading literacy,and digital reading resources,then investigates the challenges that English majors faced from three aspects:resource overload,low reading efficiency,and crisis of deep reading,and analyses the optimization path of academic reading for English majors under the digital background.
