Further Study on the Shenguang Temple Incident from the Perspective of the Debate between Lin zexu and Xu jiyu
The Shenguang Temple incident occurred between the two Opium Wars.Due to differences in opinions on how to deal with British people renting houses in Fuzhou,Lin Zexu and Xu Jiyu,two representatives of"opening eyes to see the world",had different opinions,leading to a sharp conflict.The conflict between the two sides was indeed due to the difference in their judgment of the situation in Fuzhou at that time,but the fundamental reason lies in the different understandings of the world situation by Xu,Lin,and even Em-peror Xianfeng,as well as the influence of traditional Yi Xia concept.
