Exploration into the Epic Poems of Qi Yunshi Exiled to Yili
The Mengchi Travel Manuscript and ZHUzhi Ci on the Western Frontier were concentrated reflections of Qi Yunshi's spiritual life during his exile in the northwest in his later years.The poet used documentary writing to record what he saw,heard,and felt on his journey to the west.Qi Yunshi's epic poems expressed his complex emotions and feelings towards different historical figures.The poet praises the famous scholar,Qi Xi in the Spring and Autumn Period as a metaphor for his fearlessness of the powerful,expressed his grievances through the famous scholar Yu Rang in the Spring and Autumn Period,expressed his unjust treatment through Han Xin in the Han Dynasty,and demonstrated his noble character through the famous scholars Guo Tai and Huangfu Gui in the Han Dynasty.The epic poems also reflect the poet's awareness of unexpected development and his patriotism for guarding the border and writing history.
