Research on the Relationship among Psychological Resilience,Social Support and Self-esteem of Junior High School Students
Objective:to explore the relationship between psychological resilience,social support,and self-esteem among middle school students.Method:to use the psychological resilience scale,social support scale,and self esteem scale to survey 416 middle school stu-dents in grades seven to nine in Zunyi City from September 2022 to January 2023,and conducted correlation analysis and mediation ef-fect tests on the data.Result:(1)The overall levels of psychological resilience,social support,and self-esteem are above average;(2)Middle school students have significantly higher levels of psychological resilience in terms of target focus(t=-3.552),emotional control(t=-2.181),positive cognition(t=-2.622),family support(t=-2.202),objective support dimension of social support(t=-2.380),self-ident-ity dimension of self-esteem(t=-2.151),and interpersonal openness dimension(t=-2.602)compared to boys;(3)Social support can posi-tively predict their self-esteem level(β=0.701,p<0.01)and psychological resilience(β=0.600,p<0.01),while psychological resilience can positively predict their self-esteem level(β=0.541,p<0.01).(4)Psychological resilience partially mediates the relationship between social support and self-esteem,with indirect effects accounting for 46%of the total effect.Conclusion:The psychological resilience of middle school students partially mediates the relationship between social support and self-esteem.The self-esteem level of middle school students can be improved by increasing social support and enhancing psychological resilience.
